A silver–copper oxide catalyst for acetate electrosynthesis from carbon monoxide

چکیده
Acetic acid is an important chemical feedstock. The electrocatalytic synthesis of acetic from CO2 offers a low-carbon alternative to traditional synthetic routes, but the direct reduction comes with crossover energy penalty. CO electroreduction bypasses this, which motivates interest in cascade approach followed by acid. Here we report catalyst design strategy off-target intermediates (such as ethylene and ethanol) acetate are destabilized. On optimized Ag–CuO2 catalyst, this destabilization leads Faradaic efficiency 70% at 200 mA cm−2. We demonstrate 18 hours stable operation membrane electrode assembly; system produced 5 wt% 100 cm−2 full-cell 25%, twofold improvement on highest energy-efficient electrosynthesis prior reports. typically has drawback crossover. Now, for CO, acid, reported destabilized, leading 70%.

Catalytic Synthesis of Methanol from Hydrogen and Carbon Monoxide on a Copper-zinc Oxide Supported Catalyst
Most kinetic studies of methanol synthesis over Cu/ZnO catalysts have been carried out using mixtures of carbon monoxide and hydrogen. But in some cases (1) the synthesis gas has also contained carbon dioxide (2). Power rate laws as well as complicated rate expressions have been proposed over the years. The detailed kinetics of the surface processes is virtually unknown. With the exception, per...
متن کاملMicrobial electrosynthesis of butyrate from carbon dioxide.
This work proves for the first time the bioelectrochemical production of butyrate from CO2 as a sole carbon source. The highest concentration of butyrate achieved was 20.2 mMC, with a maximum butyrate production rate of 1.82 mMC d(-1). The electrochemical characterisation demonstrated that the CO2 reduction to butyrate was hydrogen driven. Production of ethanol and butanol was also observed ope...
متن کاملCarbon monoxide from SCIAMACHY
Vertical columns of CO have been retrieved from SCIAMACHY/ENVISAT short wave/near infrared (∼2.3 µm) nadir spectra using the Weighting Function Modified (WFM) DOAS retrieval algorithm. WFM-DOAS has been applied to a small spectral fitting window located in SCIAMACHY's channel 8 (∼2365 nm) covering four CO absorption lines. The 5 focus of this paper is to demonstrate that quantitative informatio...
متن کاملTitanium-decorated graphene oxide for carbon monoxide capture and separation.
We propose titanium-decorated graphene oxide (Ti-GO) as an ideal sorbent for carbon monoxide (CO) capture and separation from gas mixtures. Based on first-principles calculations, Ti-GO exhibits a large binding energy of ~70 kJ mol(-1) for CO molecules, while the binding energies for other gases, such as N(2), CO(2), and CH(4), are significantly smaller. The gas adsorption properties of Ti-GO a...
متن کاملAn assessment on dispersion of carbon monoxide from acement factory
Background: Modeling the dispersion of pollutants from factory stacks addresses the problem of matching emissions of a cement plant with the capacity of the environment to avoid affecting the environment and society. The main objective of this study was to simulate the dispersion of carbon monoxide (CO) from the main stack of a cement plant in Doroud, Iran using SCREEN3 software developed by th...
